GREENVILLE CHURCH TO PERFORM AT LINCOLN CENTER
GREENVILLE, SC – Buncombe Street United Methodist Church (BSUMC) announces the release of its 2007 Music and Arts Events calendar, highlighted by a choral performance at New York City’s prestigious Lincoln Center on Feb. 18, 2007.
Members of the BSUMC Chancel Choir will travel to New York City Feb. 15-18 for the 2007 Wesley Choral Festival, which will be held in Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center, the world’s largest performing arts center.
As part of a 375-member chorus, the BSUMC Chancel Choir will join choir members from across the nation for the festival performance, which features soloists and a full orchestra to commemorate the tercentenary of Charles Wesley’s birth.
Other events on the 2007 BSUMC Music & Arts Events calendar include:
- On February 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the church will feature a comprehensive Art Show including visual and performing arts by BSUMC members and friends in the church Art Gallery.
- On Palm Sunday, April 1 at 6 p.m., BSUMC will present “The Passion of Our Lord,” a visual arts presentation depicting the Biblical account of Christ’s Passion by Pictable Ministries.
- On May 6 at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., the BSUMC Festival Brass will join the Chancel Choir for “A Great Day of Singing” in celebration of the great heritage and tradition of the Methodist song. This annual event features music and congregational singing both morning services.
- On May 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., BSUMC children ages 6-12 are invited to participate in the “Refrigerator Art Show” and display their original artwork in the church art gallery.
- On May 16, at 6 p.m., “Kings, Dreams, and Schemes: The Adventures of David” will tell the story of David through a musical presentation by all BSUMC children’s choirs in Sisk Hall.
